Forever home dreams become a reality
Sometimes it feels like your perfect look and inspiration will never evolve. This can be down to many reasons. The property you’re in is a steppingstone. You’re in rental properties, or you just haven’t laid down your plans to stay put. This can be when you decide exactly what your dreams and wish list would be in an ideal world. Sometimes these dreams evolve. Sometimes they never leave the mood board. Either way, the think tank really is the starting block that starts the journey.
Kirsty and Winston spent many years “playing it safe” due to investment properties and a spell abroad. When their forever home finally came along, the decision on how the kitchen would look was simple. Kirsty and Winston had discussed the look and colour scheme many times. Finally, they could use their taste and style to exactly how they had pictured it in their mind’s eye. Winston has an eye for detail and precision. This was visible in the result.
This project was a huge undertaking, not just in the kitchen but the whole house.
On entering the room, I was struck by just how bold using one colour really can be. Midnight Blue is full of richness and mystery. The whole design just flowed with simplicity yet precision and detail. Everything had a purpose. The floating bank just shouts difference. The vast island and its vast drawer system are not only practical, but it’s also big and beautiful, owning its area in the design perfectly.
Thinking outside the box with the position of the sink for sure. Usually played safe on an island, not in this design. Centralised on the far run with a fabulous smoked mirror as a splashback added as a last-minute decision to keep to that all-important budget. Again, owning the area and standing out from the crowd.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Kirsty telling me about their journey to end up at this wow-factor result. It involved recommendations, a couple of competitors, and many design meetings with Carol, who again guided The Watsons through technical issues, appliance facts, design ideas, and tweaks. Never did Carol grow tired of helping them to get to the desired result.
Chris, our fitter and Winston formed a bond with their passion for detail which helped throughout the fitting process.
The appliances are Neff throughout, featuring a Steam oven, pyrolytic and compact oven/micro, plus the warming drawer. A fantastic cluster for any standard of cook. Induction Flexi hob Full height fridge and freezer integrated dishwasher and the finishing piece Fusion Quooker tap an absolute game-changer for any family.
Morning frost Quartz with its delicate sparkle setting the midnight to morning feels an accurate picture to behold. Simplicity at its finest!!
Thank you so much to Kirsty and Winston for showcasing your stunning kitchen. A true inspiration for any current think tank out there. Your wait has certainly been worth it.
