Current traditional style mixed with distinctive shades of yester-year… Is this possible?
It’s not always easy to imagine what a renovation, extension and completely new look will do to your property and indeed whether this is a good move!
Not only does it take hours of thought and planning, worry and stress, it also needs experts with vision and an impeccable reputation to get the intended result.
On meeting with Emma, the first thing that came across to me was how proud she is of her new extension, which housed a beautiful and extremely tasteful kitchen.
Like many older properties work was needed to change layouts and accommodate Lawrence, Emma and their two children plus delightful Rocky the family dog.
This ongoing project added extra rooms upstairs and down. Moving into this beautiful 1930’s property six years ago was the start of this journey.
Emma tells me that the previous owners purchased in 1970, and since then, time stood still.
It’s difficult to blend originality with modern and sometimes can end in a design disaster. Not the case in this property. A total breath of fresh air to see this colour scheme of warm woods mixed with apple green, taupes and putty tones.
The Finsbury is one of our most popular ranges in the Burbidge collection. It’s available in lots of beautiful colours.
The choice made by Emma is so classic and timeless. Main kitchen run in putty complemented by the expansive island in taupe. The cast iron door furniture does give the whole thirties feel topped off with the impressive infinity porcini solid work surfaces.
The room has a very calm inviting feel with a subtle 30’s touch reminiscent of the era the house was built. Meticulous design features included a fantastic sunken bank housing the fridge, freezer and pull-out larder.
Usually an element within contemporary designs, so cleverly done in this kitchen to blend with the look of classic country style. The design sweeps round to house two Neff ovens positioned on top of each other rather than the side by natural side look.
Emma opted for the extra tall wall units again to give that hint of the thirties. Storage and organised cupboards were paramount for Emma, so getting another larder in the run, especially with an inner drawer system was extremely welcomed.
Emma refers to her kitchen project as her baby but allowed one small input from Lawrence! Excellent choice of extraction system Lawrence. Neff dominates most appliances in the Hills kitchen, including the dishwasher built-in microwave and induction five ring hob. Workspace is plenty, especially when the microwave cleverly housed in the wall units.
The impressive island with all its drawer systems is the ultimate must for Emma, especially when socialising and cooking the perfect place to chat and prep. Lots of little touches add style to this kitchen, especially the pilasters on the island.
Emma had a great time being advised and helped by our designer Carol. Emma complimented Carol, on her patience, time, knowledge and the customer service she gave from start to finish. The Hills also took advantage of the £500 cash back deal offered direct from Neff.
Emma was over the moon how easy it was to apply direct to Neff and the money came through to their ban account in no time. It’s always worth taking advantage of the deals offered by our suppliers.
Thank you, Emma and Lawrence, for choosing KAM Design and for allowing me into your home to showcase your beautiful room.
After an experience at a large kitchen chain store, Emma commented that KAM was a great choice and the great result indeed achieved.
