Attention to detail and organisation pays off

Choosing your kitchen takes a lot of planning, discussions, decisions, research, and time. It’s our job to help you on this journey. Maybe you like to know everything your appliance will perform. You are perhaps a stickler for how it’s made or what the material is?

You may want to test design ideas that have appeared at 3am whilst unable to sleep (very common). Whatever the request, we pride ourselves that if we don’t know it, we will find it out. The rarity of this occurrence is minimal as knowledge and experience are what a true kitchen designer should possess, and that’s what our team have!! The ethos behind our success and reputation.

13 years ago, Trish and Paul decided to open their kitchen up by removing a wall putting in patio doors and opening their room to extend into their beautiful garden. Great decision. The comfortable kitchen still new stayed there up until the present date. Pinterest, a valuable social media gadget with many ideas and on-trend pictures, became Trish’s hobby. Maybe a door and worktop change with an appliance upgrade were what the wood and black granite kitchen needed?

The initial budget discussions lead to an agreed price, and Trish began her homework. This soon became a realisation that the budget would not stretch, and Trish’s dreams of her new kitchen grew in design and style, which meant a lot more than a quick door change!!

Paul and Trish, an organised couple, went back to the spreadsheets and increased the budget, giving them a whole new alternative view to the ever-growing project. Armed with ideas, they contacted KAM Design. This all took place through Lockdown. Unfortunately, they could only talk to us via zoom. Both agreed that this was ok but wished they could have come into the showroom and look at the displays.

Nevertheless, the virtual tour really did help and allowed them to see what we looked like in the comfort of their home. After a few zoom chats with Carol, Trish and Paul felt highly comfortable continuing and paid the design fee to progress their kitchen. Other competitors were contacted, but sale pitches, pushy salesmen and blasé Covid rules led them straight back to KAM. Our ethos is to guide our clients through this process and not push them into a sale. Design and detail are more important than sales pitches.

The fee paid, off to work we go and how this kitchen evolved was stunning. Trish knew what she wanted; Paul had studied his appliances in-depth Carol, an expert in her field, a match made in heaven. Both loved working with Carol, whose knowledge is second to none. Nothing too much trouble, every angle covered and the results far beyond any expectations.

My first initial sighting of the room really took my breath away; it was almost like the kitchen flowed into the garden. The colour palette blended effortlessly but so effectively. Striking Barnes Prussian blue peninsula integrating into an array of Barnes chalk base, wall, and standard bank units. Soft curves guide you around with a glass door to break up the wall run. Complementing the colour palette, the ever-favourite infinity Lincoln quartz work surface.

The appliances all Neff boast many features, including hide and slide oven and a combination microwave oven to free up the workspace. Flex induction hob with its hob to hood connectivity feature. Trish and Paul are keen cooks previously gas now induction converted and loving it! The extraction system built into the bulkhead was a design specification by Paul. A showstopper in the room.

Leading off the kitchen, the utility has ample room. It is fitted out to complement the Burbidge kitchen with our Solent range. All in all, this project, as precise and calculated as it was, conducted under extreme circumstances, working to a time scale for Trish’s birthday, really did achieve its goal and more. It is an inspiring room with lots of thought and ideas. Tailored to the needs of our clients, every detail discussed crossed off and accounted for.

An absolute credit to all involved. Seamless fit by Chris and finished with the most exquisite taste.

Thank you so much to Paul Trish and, of course, Bessie the English bull, for letting me visit and view this beautiful finished project. Pinterest really needs a picture of this!
