Paul & Sarah – Penwortham

Paul and Sarah have just completed a rear extension to create a large family room overlooking the garden.

For the kitchen, they wanted a contemporary, minimalist look and with two teenage boys, needed it to be practical to boot. Symmetry in the design was an important factor and was key to the sleek end results. They opted for gloss handle-less doors in Dakota Grey, complemented by a Frosty Silver quartz worktop with upstands and splashback.

Appliances include a full-height integrated fridge and separate freezer, two Neff ovens, dishwasher and a Caple wine cooler.  An AEG 90cm mixed hob offers 4 induction zones as well as a gas wok burner – perfect for the family to enjoy a stir fry!

Lighting was a key factor in the design of the whole room.  KAM Design supplied continuous LED strip lights and made arrangements for the granite fabricators to cut a groove on the underside of the quartz to accommodate the recessed lighting.

Our Designer, Carol also recommended LED strip lighting above all of the tall and wall units to shine a soft glow upwards towards the ceiling, which really do give off a nice ambient glow in the evenings and on darker mornings before the sun comes around.

Sarah also wanted to incorporate some built in storage in the lounge area to match some existing TV furniture, so we used our Avola Bedroom Furniture range to create some bespoke cupboards.  The whole design is set off with Karndean flooring from the Da Vinci range in Coastal Driftwood (www.touchwoodflooringpreston.co.uk)

It’s taken many hours of hard work by the family and various trades…. and there’s been a lot of muck and dirt to contend with along the way, but the end results are stunning.  We’d like to thank Paul and Sarah for being such a delight to work with and wish them many hours of joy in their fantastic new space.
